14th May, 2008
7 - 9 pm Committee Room 1, Penwith District Coucil Offices
St. Clare, Penzance (Note: this building is opposite the Penzance Leisure Centre, behind the main rooms of Penwith District Council offices. For directions, please click here PDF)
The fifth in the series of public meetings organised by Transition Penwith Energy Group, will continue the exploration of domestic renewable energy systems by investigating solar thermal technology and how this can help us reduce our carbon footprint.
"Solar Hot Water Systems Explained" aims to provide you with knowledge of how solar thermal works, the differences between collector options, integration within existing dwellings, system costs, capabilities & potential outputs. It will enable you to make an informed decision about whether or not solar thermal is right for you.
The meeting is aimed at anyone involved in new or refurbished building projects, such as; architects, building surveyors, councillors, planning officials, self builders, plumbers / electricians, in order to dispel some of the myths and provide a forum for discussion on how to best utilise the technology.
Cornish based renewable energy expert, Nathan Billings, will explain the fundamentals of solar thermal technology. Nathan was the UK's first graduate in Renewable Energy, and is currently technical director of Capture Energy, a designer and supplier of renewable energy systems, located on the Pool Business Park, Redruth.
Refreshments will be available and there will be an opportunity for you to put your questions to Nathan at the end of the talk. Places are limited and booking is essential.
